What can I say - Life with 2 kids is kinda nonstop, and so yes I have neglected the blog! There is really too much to catch up on over the last few months, so instead of going into detail about swim lessons, potty training, a trip to the Highlands, my wonderful 30th birthday weekend at Blackberry farms (Brian Way outdid himself) An unforgettable week at Watercolor with my parents and Brothers that Connor can still not stop talking about, Pierce walking now running and celebrating his 1st birthday party backyard style at our house, and I am sure lots more I am forgetting I will post a few pics from this summer but mostly start from the now. We have been fully indulved into football season with UT having 4 home games in a row in september, mostly consuming our weekends, Brian and I did get to Athens last week (directly from Matthew Castles wedding in Nashville -Congrats to matthew and Jaymee) to watch the Dawgs embrassing victory -more importantly great time with some of the best friends we have -even if it was short and sweet. The boys both started preschool this fall and love it. Pierce grabs the top of the gate when we get to school to try to flip himself in, and heaven forbid I so up early to pick Connor up - he quietly tells me "we are not done Mom" and I am to wait outside. Pierce is blonde - full head of cottontop blonde -adorable but it is hard to claim him. He is also running, climbling and into everything -he definately sees himself as big as Connor and tries to mimic everything - If Connor has puppy on his head, so does pierce, if connor is riding his bike, pierce jumps on another riding toy -monkey see monkey do and double trouble. He has started little gym and loves it, He is starting to try to use words -Ball, Woof, are the 2 most recent, and just today he got his first haircut. Connor is at the wonderful age of unfiltered language - the other day I was trying to get him to hurry b/c we were late as usual and he looked at me and said "Honey, i told you i have to finish my puzzle" along with the language has been imagination - even though we are trying to give up naps we still have daily rest time - with the advancements of video monitors I have been able to wittness several surprise birthday parties, time outs, and races of his cars during "rest time". Connor is also on the birthday train with 4 parties in the next 2 weeks, and he is fully enticipating his upcoming number 3.
This weekend we have truly enbraced fall - Connor's playgroup had a halloween party friday morning, and this morning we ventured to the fruit and berry patch for tractor rides, pumpkin picking and corn mazes, following by haircuts -whew. Both kids are growing so fast and keeping us laughing daily.

Not sure how to post all that has happened in the last few months! Obviously life is crazy and I have had no free time, nonetheless it has been fun. May and early june was busy with traveling - since we have left town very little in the last year 3 trips back to back was a challenge. First Brian and I headed to Memphis to celebrate Will Hudson's wedding over the annual BBQ fest weekend - this is usually brians guys trip and I was prefectly fine keeping it that way until Will decided to get married - so we just pretended to be back in college for a few days and realized we are not and were exhausted by the time we left. The wedding was beautiful, outdoor perfect flower arbor setting and a relaxing reception, the BBQ fest was crazy - but fun to see the thousands and thousands that show up to compete, taste and see, still i think i will stay home next year.
The second trip was to Destin (pre oil)with the Welch's -so fun- both kids were a little afraid of the ocean at first but warmed up by the end of the week. The weather could not have been better, and we had a wonderful time with Carlene, Doug Megan Darren and of course my precious nephew Bradford -who is doing great and they have decided to postpone his surgery until next summer. Lastly we packed up the kids one last time to head to Hilton Head for a vacation with my entire family - 35 people came, and we had so mcuh fun -again great weather, and lots of helping hands for the kids -Both boys enjoyed the flat sand and calmer ocean -but they definately love the pool.
In between trips we have been seding a lot of time at the pool, having friends over to grill out, enjoying the beautiful nights and lightning bugs. and of course enjoying a wonderful fathers day with Brian.
The boys are growing like crazy - Connor is talking up a storm and so funny! and a smart cookie, knows his ABC's letter identification, counting to 20 and almost to 10 in spanish, mastered his colors, shapes and doing well with opposites. I will have to post some of his funny comments when they come to me. Pierce is everywhere! Crawling, climbing steps, pulling up and cruising furniture, he is clapping, babbling, waving bye bye, and giving high fives - and is just precious.

Marathon

Of course how can I forget also this month Brian completed his first Marathon!!!! In under 4 hours! Congratulations! He did awesome despite the horrible downpour, I also ran the 1/2 marathon and had several family members to complete also - congratulations to Natalie, Christy, Jody, Ryan and Lauren who completed the full marathon also and to my dad who did the 1/2!!!these are the only pictures I have!

Easter

We had a wonderful easter -spending the night before easter with my family -including my aunt, uncle and cousin from atlanta Tootie, Bill and Justin, it has been too long since we have seen them and spent a lot of time together and it was wonderful to catch up, After an exciting relaxing easter morning at our house with treats from the Easter Bunny and Church we spent Brunch with Brian's family at Maple Grove Inn -the weather was beautiful all weekend and the kids really enjoyed hunting eggs and all the festivities. We also got to celebrate with Connor's play group at Lara's house the week before!

Atlanta

It has been weeks now- and I have been crazy busy - but I wanted to post some pictures from our weekend trip to Atlanta. we took a 3 day trip to visit our good friends and family there -the weather was the first really beautiful weekend and we played outside all weekend, as always it was wonderful to see our dear friends and we always have so much fun with them and their adorable kids- I did not get many pictures but my friend mandy is actually starting her own photography business and took some practice shots on my kids - they are my favorite pics ever!

It has been a busy month! Brian and I took our first trip away from the kids since Pierce was born in early Feb -to beautiful Jamiaca. It was amazing - beautiful weather, no schedule and time to enjoy each other, relax and soak up the sun - much needed after the extra deary winter we have had. It has been probably 5 or more years since we have been on an adult beach vacation without family and even longer with just the 2 of us and we truly enjoyed every second -Brian went diving twice, I finished 2 books, we had oceanfront massages and lots of wonderful meals. It will definately not be 5 years before we plan another beach trip! I have been double spoiled this month also enjoying a girls only weekend to The Grove Park last weekend- I went with my good friends betsy, lara, rachel and jamie and we had a great time catching up, laughing, and relaxing in the beautiful mountains of Asheville. In addition to a little traveling we have been overwhelmed with preschool decisions and plans for next year for the boys - visiting 8 in the last 2 months! Connor has started Little Gym and LOVES it - although he does not like it referred to as little gym but prefers big gym, he is talking more and more everyday, can know sing his ABC's, knows all his shapes, most of his numbers 1-10 and shows his personality daily. the other day Brian came home from a long run (he is marathon training) and was stretching on the floor -obviously sweaty -Connor said "wew Daddy wet -needs dry" and ran off only to come bounding down the hall with the toilet paper trailing behind him to "dry" daddy off. Pierce just had his 6 month check up, has 2 teeth and almost 2 more, he laughs & giggles all day, He is almost sitting up alone and Loves the Johnny Jump up!! He is eating all kinds of fruits, veggies and grains and is chunking up - 16 Lb at his appointment, -Unfortuntely along with his 6 month check up came his first sickness - He has had RSV for the last week now into an ear infection -:( Connor and myself have had minor colds as well - I included a few pictures of the kids camping out in our "tent" trying to find some fun in staying home again today! have a great week

SNOW

Ok this was real snow! After the disappointment of finding out that our trip to visit friends in Atlanta this past weekend was to be cancelled due to their extensive stomach bug, we were left in town with no plans. Probably on Wed the forecasters began their warnings of the winter storm passing through east TN. Having lived here all our lives, we know better than to believe the forecast. Come Friday afternoon when the national weather advisory, and the weather channel had joined forces in predicting our snow -we sat and anxiously waited. And it came, not the 10inches I heard one report predict, but a good 2-3 inches in the yards. We woke up Sat to a winter wonderland, Connor was thrilled. Our brothers and Brians parents helped to spend the day building snowmen, sleding, throwing snowballs and making snow angels-after a few hours connor was finally drug inside for hot chocolate and chicken noodle soup -only to suit up and head out again that afternoon. We did not leave the house for 2 days - we played and played, watched movies, sat in front of the fire and enjoyed our kiddos -it was the kind of snow weekend that childhood memories are made from -our adult memories for some of us.

Snow Day

A little late, but we had a very small amount of snow the other day. Connor really wanted to build a snowman, unfortunately not only was there probably not enough snow it was very wet and would not stick:( maybe there is more to come. Nonetheless we got some cute pictures!

Pierce is Christened

Our little Pierce was christened Jan 3rd at Cedar Springs Church - He did great! Smiled for everyone -Connor was at the front of the church with Brian and I and asked why they were giving Pierce a bath at church - too cute. It was an overwhelming blessing to have so much family and friends present to help us celebrate this special day in our son's life. Thank you all for loving us so much!

Happy Holidays! After a very busy month It is crazy to me that i actually have a little time now that January has settled in! We had a very wonderful Christmas- spending a beautiful christmas eve dinner and evening at my parents, Christmas morning at home together - then off to my grandmothers and then Brian's Parents for the afternoon and evening. It was great time together and with the kids. Connor of course grasped more than Pierce and quickly caught onto the opneing of presents. He still remains Lightning McQueens biggest fan, though is starting to branch out to Thomas the train -especially with his new train table! Pierce got a highchair for Christmas and is soon to start eating - he is a chunker and drinking bottles like crazy! Hope everyone's Christmas was Merry!

It has been so long since I have posted we have had a crazy few weeks- as I am sure everyone has with the holidays among us! First We celebrated Connor's 2nd Birthday. He had a small gathering of friends his age for a Kindermusik party - needless to say with several 2 year olds it was a little hectic! Connor had a great time though and has quickly associated birthdays mainly with the consumption of cake. My good friend rachel made his cake - Lightning McQueen -how appropriate for our CARS nut! Since his birthday any time he sees cake or sweets he simply states "I 2" like duh I am now old enough to have sweets as often as I please. This was the mindset going into his cousin Bradfords 1st birthday party the following week. His patience was limited once he saw the cake - and Bradford loved his first taste of cake. He is growing so fast and is just precious! Walking like a pro, doing great with table foods, and started to say a few words, now if I can only get him to prefer me to Brian... After 2 weeks of birthday craziness we helped my brother Brett celebrate his graduation from UT -Brett graduated the 12th of December with his Bachelors in Pyschology -We are SO Proud of you Brett!!! We had a great time at his celebration party before the graduation - then gracefully endured the graduation ceremony -did you know that UT still announces EVERYONEs name and has everyone cross the stage! nevertheless we were glad to be there for him. Amongst the birthdays, and graduation we have had countless Christmas parties - I think like 6 in 2 weeks, and Christmas fun with the kids. I have included some pictures of our playgroup christmas party and will work on scanning our Santa picture to upload - I was floored that both boys did awesome -smiling so big! As if this craziness was not enough I had surgery monday to have a place taken off my arm - no big deal and everything is fine, but I have been a little slow the last few days -not my usual pre christmas full speed! I think we are caught up, and ready for a relaxing few days of family and a focus on the real reason of this season. We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

We have had a family/fun filled week! Starting on Sunday with Brian's side of the family we enjoyed thanksgiving lunch and his sweet grandmother did everything! Unfortunately my camera battery was dead and I miss the photo opts- Next onto the Connor family thanksgiving on Wednesday night -always a little crazy with 40 people this year - We did manage to get a picture of all the cousins -I'm not sure how! Connor loved the craziness and blended right in, Pierce did very wel being passed around but was exhausted. Thursday we celebrated AGAIN with Brian's other grandparents and my parents and bros. We have So much to be thankful for and are So very blessed. We hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Laughs and Letters

Connor and Pierce are growing so fast! i thought I would post some live footage of them these days. Pierce is smiling and starting to laugh -especially at big brother. He is just getting big enough to have short times in the "Bumbo" chair sitting up - Connor now insists that Pierce sit next to him for his 20 minute morning cartoon -really he will not sit down without Pierce -too cute. Connor is getting more vocal these days and is doing so good with recognizing numbers, letters and colors - I am so proud of him! He still does not like napping (much like his mother) and has actually been asked to be picked up from school early because he won't nap. Crazy I know, but what do you do? Anyway they are keeping us busy and laughing everyday -have a great week everyone!

We had a great Halloween Weekend! Our good friends Tom and Jenny Moore were in town with their son Griffin for a golf tournament the boys played in. Jenny and I had lots at time to catch up, enjoy the kids and even an afternoon of girl time at the spa! Connor Loved having Griffin around and Loved Halloween -He was Lightning McQueen from the Movie Cars -and my mother in law so skillfully made Pierce a "mater" costume so he could match Connor. despite the icky weather we ventured out to trick or treat on halloween with the 3 kids and our nephew Bradford AKA Mickey Mouse - Connor caught onto the concept of trick or treating quickly -especially after he found out what happens when you suck on the Hersheys wrapper long enough! The rest of the weekend was beautiful and I have included some pictures at the Park and of the boys craving their first pumpkin with Popa C

UT vs GA

As you all probably know the UT/GA game is a rivarly weekend in our household. Our good friends Mandy & Brian Riley came to visit us for the weekend with their adorable 2 children Madison and Carter and to help me cheer on the Dawgs -obviously we did not cheer loud enough! The weekend was a blast though Connor LOVES Madison and Carter and was in heaven all weekend. Madison is a babysitter in training and even successfully fed Pierce by herself several times - please note she is 3 1/2! Saturday we actually had a brave babysitter that took the 3 older kids and Pierce stayed with my mother in law -out of the line of fire! We had a fun day of tailgating and football kid free despite the outcome. Sunday we took the kids to the park and had a picnic and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Thanks for coming to visit us - as always it was so great to see you all!

Tailgating

We are still adjusting to the world with 2 kids and thus I have yet to go to a football game this year, depsite the 4 home games UT has had this September, don't be fooled my husband does not miss a beat and has been there to cheer on the vols each time. This past Saturday I bravely ventured to tailgate with the 2 kids -being that is was the Auburn game and a night game it was a little crazy. nonetheless we all had fun, and had plenty of help, I still think I will try to go to the next game kidless!

What a difference a year makes! These are pictures taken on Connor's first day of Mothers Day out last year and this year - He is growing so fast! He loves his class and after 2 weeks last thursday was the first time he did not cry to be left. He still remains the only child of the class that refuses to nap, I can't say I am that upset because it just means he naps at home, but still we need to work on not distrubing the others!

Hope everyone had a good 3 day weekend - we had a very relaxed one. Brian and I actually stole away for a few hours friday night for dinner - thanks to Nonnie and Grandad for watching the boys. Brian did go to the game on Sat to cheer the Vols on for their first victory of the season - wish I could say the same about the Dawgs -but maybe next time. Yesterday we took both the boys to Knoxville's Slashpad in Carl Cowan Park to play and picnic. we really did not know what we were getting ourselves into and had only heard about it - but it is really cool! Connor loved it - next time though we will all wear bathing suits! Have a great week

Life with 2

We have completed our first week as a family of 4~ with much appreciated help from grandparents, uncles and aunt, and close friends. With all of our help I don't think we have really experienced day to day life -but so far so good.
Pierce is such a good baby, a good sleeper, a good eater and getting more and more alert - I had forgotten how much I treasured those early days. Connor is a wonderful big brother, of course he doesn't know his own strength and thus time with little brother has to be monitored! The other morning Brian was holding Pierce on the couch and Connor came over -very curious, he likes to touch and look at all his body parts, he picked up Pierce's fist and gave him a fist bump -too cute!! We definately have some sleepless nights but are adjusting so much easier the second time around. Here is a short clip of some of our pictures over the last week

Welcome Pierce!

We would like to annouce the newest member of our family - Joseph "Pierce" - Pierce decided to come on his own despite the well organized induction date I had planned for him this Wednesday. Monday night Brian and I had a last minute dinner night out planned. Conviently seconds after the babysitter arrived at 6:45 my water broke -needless to say we ended up going to the hospital instead of dinner! After a few hours at 4cm they started pitocin to speed the process - in less than 2 hours I dilated from 4 to 8cm and at 1:16 am Pierce was born at 7Lb 15oz, and 21 inches. We are so grateful for a healthy delivery and a healthy son. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! More pictures to come

I am on countdown. I went to the doctor today and am at 3 cm, and we have an induction scheduled for next Wednesday if little man does not decide to come sooner. Either way we are excited and ready to meet him! Here is a picture of me actually from today at 39 weeks and pictures of the nursery

Afternoon at the Farm

We had a great afternoon and evening with several of my good friends from high school last night. My good friend Rachel's dad lives on the most beautiful farm and they so graciously opened it to all of us -kids including to run, play and enjoy the beautiful night. Alyce was in town from Atlanta with her new precious baby girl Hayden -have you ever seen so much hair!!! The rest of the kids had a great time feeding and catching fish, picking blueberries, and just running themselves tired. I had such a great time catching up with dear friends I do not get to see enough and enjoy a delcious pot luck dinner. On another note - my pregancy is moving along - with a little more than 2 weeks to go, I have a tentative induction scheduled August 26th - we will keep you posted!

Big Boy Room

The bed does have a trundle that is where Connor sleeps - not yet in the Big bed! Play Group

We hosted our play group this morning and had a super fun day playing in the yard with the hose and sprinkler - The Mowery boys were the only ones who could make it this morning -but the 4 boys definately had fun - I had to share a few pics, I also have to brag on my Big Boy! We are on night 2 of our Big boy room and bed and he is doing great 2 nights of 8pm to 8 am without a problem ...I know i am jinxing myself here but i am so proud of him! Since we are weeks away from #2 we needed a new monitor and decided to upgrade to the video monitor for our adventerous toddler. For those of you who do not have video monitors they are so cool - we can scan the whole room from our remote to see what he is up to, mostly it is comical to watch him make his nightly rounds to talk to his animals to himself before crawling back into bed! I will post pictures of his new room ASAP. Hope everyone is having a great week!

Father's Day

Sorry a little Late - but nonetheless we wanted to honor Brian for being such a great dad. I could not do this without him, his constant encouragement, his ways of making light of every situation, the way he makes Connor and I laugh out loud, the way he walks in the door and immediately helps with anything we are doing and of course his unconditional love - and trust me with my current pregnancy hormones it is unconditional love! Thank you Brian for being such a great dad -we had fun celebrating -I have including a few pictures celebrating with both of the grandfathers

Family Trip

Brian, Connor and I just got back form our first "family" trip with just the three of us - since it is soon to be four we thought we should take advantage of some one on one time with Connor. We spent the week at Sandestin resort and had the best time. The weather could not have been better, we stayed steps from the beach where we spent our mornings-Connor is fearless -seriously fearless, he jumps into the pool without blinking, darts into the waves and comes up laughing. I am not sure what to think of this, for now I just pray for energy to keep up! The afternoons were quietly enjoyed on the porch overlooking the shore as Connor napped -Brian and I both finished at least one book a piece. The evenings were full of several fun nights in Baytowne Wharf where Connor played on the awesome playground, had his first ice cream cone and watched movies on the lawn, and danced the night away to the live music -too funny. A few ventures to some of our favorite restuarants in Seaside and lazy nights of cooking in and night walks on the beach. It was a great week with precious time laughing with Connor, a week to enjoy each other and truly relax.

Wild Dunes

We just got back from a wonderful long weekend at Wild Dunes SC with Brian's family. For the most we had good weather with one rainy day adventure to the aqaurium. Connor loves the ocean and is fearless -which warrants non stop attention, but his curiosity is darling. This was also Bradford's first trip to the beach -we'll just say he is still getting use to it! We all had so much fun -thank you Nonnie and Grandad for a great trip!

I just celebrated my second mother's day and what a blessing! We have had a great few days with family, visiting all the great -grandmothers to help plant flowers for them, an unsuccessful attempt at a picnic with my mom -that ended in a great "indoor" picnic, and a lovely brunch with brian's mom. It has been a crazy few days! We did have some down time on sunday afternoon, we watched the movie Cars with Connor - who sat for a full hour and 45 minutes on the couch next to me and hung on every word - I could not believe it but the movie held his undivided attention. He even got into the action - He would look at me and say "oh no, oh no!" anytime anything bad happened -too cute! Brian and I usually put Connor to bed as a joint effort because it is such a precious time - being mother's day I had the privelage to myself, rocking him and singing he looked up at me and kissed me - I had tears pouring as I walked downstairs -it is amazing how much you love these little people! I hope you all had a blessed mother's day!

Hope everyone had a blessed Easter. We had an eventful one! Saturday we had 3 Easter Egg hunts - we only made it to 2- our neighborhood 4th annual morning easter egg hunt which my good friend Missy and I organize - it was a great success and everyone had a lot of fun, including Connor -especially after he figured out there was something in the eggs! We then went to our friend Drew Johnson's for his 1st birthday party/Easter egg hunt. Connor definetaly had the hang of things by then and loved playing with all the kids. Sunday was a beautiful day with a great morning church service, brunch with my family and of course a visit from the Easter Bunny. Have a great week everyone

It's A BOY!

We found out this past week that we are expecting another boy. We are so excited -however I personally thought it was a girl so it is still soaking in that we are going to have 2 little boys running around here! More importantly the ultrasound looked great, the baby is still on schedule for August 29th - making me 20 weeks and 1/2 way there -yeah! We will keep you updated

Beach Week

We just got back from a great week at the Beach with our good friends the Riley's and the Moores. Mandy, Jenny and I bravely ventured the first part of the week alone with 4 kids (Madison 3, Connor 16mo, Griffin 13mo, and Carter 9mo) - including the drive to St Port Joe, Fl. Despite being rained on for 3 days and going a little stir crazy inside the house with all the kids - we had a great time together. the end of the week brought welcomed help from the husbands and beautiful weather. The kids had such a great time together - Connor is going to miss he constant play mates! and I am going to miss my girl time! Thanks for a great time everyone! Brian's 1/2 Marathon

Yeah! Brian completed his first 1/2 Marathon last Sunday in Knoxville. He finished in 1 hour 53 minutes. Connor and I watched him cross the 8 mile mark and then cross the finish line at Neyland Stadium. We are so Proud of you!

Connor got his first haircut this past weekend. He did great considering - but even better was the hairdresser - I have no idea how it came out even with all the wiggling he was doing. First a short trip to Atlanta for Madison Riley's 3rd Birthday - Connor loved the party -especially his first piece of pizza and a whole piece of cake! He did really well sitting at the party table with all the big kids and feeding himself with a fork - of course the thick pink icing was motivating to make sure everything ended up in his mouth! Madison had a blast and is getting to be such a big girl! We also got to see Mr. Griffin Moore who is growing and into everything these days.
Our second trip was down to Tuscaloosa Al to visit uncle Patrick. It was Connor's first visit to the campus -and despite the chilly weather (it even snowed Sunday morning!) we had so much fun with patrick and his friends. Connor of course thought he was big man on campus -and it was too cool to hang out at uncle patrick's apartment. Great to see everyone!

We had a great busy weekend with a wonderful visit from our good friends Mandy and Brian and their adorable children Madison and Carter. Madison is turning 3 and full of personality -she is the best big sister and pulled Connor right under her wing as well. Carter is 7 months and is growing so fast! He is almost as big as Connor - and I can only pray for such a good natured and easy baby for our second. Connor made big annoucement this past week - He is going to be a Big Brother! I am 10 weeks along and due August 29th - this is what I get for swearing I would never have an August baby. We had our first ultrasound about a week and a half ago and everything looks great - healthy heartbeat and even starting to see little arms and a torso! I really have been feeling good aside from the occasional nausea and definate cabin fever during these cold months. Although as I type I am watching probably our second inch of snow come down - it is beautiful. Anyway we will keep you update on the progress of Baby #2~

Mmm. where to start- not a whole lot has been going on in January - but I suppose after the holidays that is what January is for. We had a recent scare when we found out that Connor's crib and furniture has been recalled for lead paint. As most babies Connor has defintely put his unique character to his crib (aka teething) which obviously concerned us. We have since gotten rid of all the furniture, had everything steamed and dry cleaning and C-man is sleeping in a pack n play until we are able to get new furniture. Of course we also had his lead levels checked -which thankfully came back undetectable - however if any of you parents have ever had to have your child's blood draw through a venous stick you know what awful experience it is - let's just say there were tears to go around the whole room of 3 nurse's and myself attempting to have the blood drawn. But you do what you have too. The weather has been bitterly cold and just yesturday and today we were finally able to get some snow out of this cold weather. Well I guess you can call it snow - more of a dusting really -but nonetheless enough to call of school and send kids sledding down the yards. Connor was not sure what to think, but I think just enjoyed being outside after being cooped up for days. The stock market was closed monday allowing us a 3 day family weekend -including lots of movies, a trip to Jumpity Jump and lots of playtime with C-man - the best part of the whole weekend Monday afternoon Connor Walked to us! He has been taking a step here or there but resides to his knees for long distances -but yesturday he actually walked probably 10-15 steps, the cutest part was how proud he was of himself! Anyway hope everyone is staying warm! Also I had to include all my recent pictures from my new camera over the last few weeks - I am loving taking pictures!

It is with great excitement that we welcome our new cousin/nephew William "Bradford" into our Family! My Brother in law and sister in law Megan and Darren had this beautiful little boy on Monday December 8th. While the early morning phone call to let us know she was in labor came as no suprise (since she has been walking around at 3cm for weeks) -this little boy did come as a suprise since we were planning on a little girl! Yes at her 20 week ultrasound they were told they were having a daughter - much to all of our suprise when little Bradford arrived. Mom and baby are healthy and doing great - Bradford was born at 7lb, 3oz, and 21 inches.

This past weekend Brian and I had the honor of becoming Godparents to Carter Riley - Carter and cousin Emmerson Riley were baptized together in Charleston SC. The weekend could not have been more beautiful and the both babies did wonderful during the ceremony. I have included a picture of Carter wearing the robe to the traditional christening gown that is 103 years old and has been worn by every member of the Riley Family -absolutely beautiful. We had such a fun weekend hanging with our dear friends the whole Riley & Deason Families - Thank you so much Kim and Chris for hosting our crazy crowd and thank you Mandy & Brian for the wonderful honor of being Carter's Godparents! I personal have never been a big Halloween fan, not one to dress up, and definitely not a night owl - but I do thoroughly enjoy the excitement of kids at Halloween -and their precious costumes - and Connor had big plans for his first Halloween to stroll around the neighborhood with the "big" McDowell kids -but instead we decided to stay home with our first ear infection -not fun. We did get to attend the Halloween party at Cherokee on Wednesday before he started feeling bad so i did get a few pictures in his Pooh costume. I really don't let Connor watch much TV, and for the most part he doesn't care much about TV, but his attention span doubles when Pooh is on -it is precious, so it was fitting that he was Pooh for Halloween. I also included a few more pictures below -we have had a crazy few weeks, including one very fun adult night out to the Rascal Flatts Concert, and my mom and I took a girls trip to Chicago for my National ADA conference -we had a blast, I highly recommend Chicago as one of my all time favorite cities, and also highly recommend the Broadway play Wicked - absolutely wonderful! To make the trip even better Brian did a fabulous job as a single parent for a few days and I think Connor loved the "guy time"

Road trip to Athens - some of us came out ahead of others but we all had a great time. Brian and I went down with Tom and Jenny Moore and thanks to the Rileys were able to stay in an Athens hotel -impossible to find! We had a great time tailgating and even didn't mind fighting the crowds after the game. We also got to spend a lot of time with my brothers Ryan and Brett in town for the game -we tried to hang with the college kids but only made it until a little after midnight, what parenthood will do to you! Connor stayed in Knoxville with his Nonnie and Grandad - (thank you so much for helping!) but he definately was supporting the right team!

Car Wreck

First and foremost -everyone is OK, but yes Brian and I got into a car wreck last weekend, obviously fairly bad -luckily Connor was not with us. We were leaving Margot MacDonald's beautiful wedding reception at Hoslton Hills Country Club and unfortunately chose Magnolia Avenue to travel home - the accident happened right in front of good ole Catholic High where an oncoming vehicle turned left without yielding. Brian did not even have time to hit the brakes -we hit them at probably 40 mph. Brian and I only had some bumps and bruises, the other vehicle did have 2 children in it, one not in a carseat - she was sent to the hospital for observation for 24 hours - no outstanding injuries found. A female passenger also had a injured vertebrae - again released from the hospital. It certainly is a wake up call and reminder how quickly life can change, and how blessed we each are for everyday.

San Franscico and Napa Valley

Brian and I just got back from our first long trip away from Connor - Hard as it was to leave, we had a great time just the two of us! We spent a few days in San Francisco exploring the great city -I would definitely have a tighter rear end if I lived there -hill after hill after hill! We toured Alcatraz, ran through the Golden Gate National park, explored the piers and Fisherman's Wharf and had some wonderful dinners. We spent a little longer in wine country -wining and dinning! we also made time for hiking the Muirwoods -amazing, had a great bike trip through lower Sonoma, and several vineyards tours. It really is amazing how much goes into making wine. It was a great trip we highly recommend but it was certainly wonderful to see our little Connor smiling at us again!!

A trip to the Zoo

This Past weekend the three of us took a trip to the Knoxville Zoo. I think Brian and I enjoyed it more than Connor -since we have not been in like 20 years -but Connor did have wide eyes and waving hands at most of the animals! Welcome Fall

As much as I have resisted letting go of Summer -Fall schedules and routines and football are apon us. Connor has started Mother's Day out -or as I call it "school" -on Tuesday's and Thursday's and is loving it. His teachers say he is adjusting very well and is learning to play with kids his on age.He has also begun Kindermusik which is a great program especially with his attraction to music. Myself not knowing what to do with my new fund free time have gone back to work as a PRN dietitian at Parkwest Medical - for those of you who do not know what PRN is -it's basically as needed, so I act as the relief RD when people are scheduled off. I am loving it! It is so nice to be able to use my brain and have adult time but still be able to pick up Connor and be a mommy. Otherwise are usually crazy fall has begun with Junior League in full swing, Brian is still busy with Rotary, Nucleus and work, and of course the much anticipated begining of football! We had a great & Busy Labor Day weekend with beautiful weather. Friday Brian and I took Connor to the park -he is just starting to enjoy the swing - and out to dinner which is always an adventure. We celebrated our last day at the pool on Saturday and then Nonnie and Grandad volunteered to take Connor for a sleepover and Brian and I enjoyed a relaxing date night -thank you Nonnie and Grandad! Sunday night we ventured to boomsday by boat with my brother's Ryan and Brett and their friends Matt and Sarah, The fireworks were awesome as usual, and the boat was definately a great way to watch, we were just smart to be the last ones in and the first ones out - with 405 thousand people there it gets a little crowded! Finally on Monday we had a family get together at the Lake House -Thank you Watkins family for hosting all of us! Hope everyone else enjoyed the 3 day weekend and the begining of football season -GO Dawgs!

On the Move

Whether it is in the pool or on the ground -Connor is definately on the move! He absolutely loves the pool and starts waving his hands as soon as he see's the water, He can touch the ground in the baby pool -making it a whole new world of freedom in his float. As for in the house-he is definately crawling, he kinda uses one foot and one knee, I think he can move faster that way! Babyproofing has begun!

Connor's Favorite thing is his Jumpy seat - he could spend hours in it - He has not reached the weight limit although I am not so sure about the safety limit. Lazy Hazy Crazy Summer

July and August have been busy months soaking up the last of summer. Brian and I recently celebrated our 6 year anniversary - crazy! Connor is now a little over 8 months old, He has 2 teeth and is getting more I think (classic teething signs are strong) He is not crawling yet -but is extremely close, and moble nonetheless, I recently caught him going towards an outlet (we aren't quite babyproof yet) and grabbed his hand and told him No - he turned around and laughed at me only to do it again and see my reaction -I think I'm in trouble. He is also becoming more independant in feeding himself -making meal times much more fun, although we are still struggling a little with the sippy cup. He Loves Mickey Mouse and is so precious whenever the "hot dog" song comes on and he starts to dance. These last few weeks we have been swimming a lot -Connor loves the water, and have had several friends over for dinner. A group of my good friends from high school came over one night, the McDowell's and Waughs and their precious crazy kids who are shirtless due to the water gun fights, and the Addicks and Mowery's with their kids -unfortunately with 4 moving babies i did not get a great shot. We also spent a great morning with the McDowells at the fruit and berry patch picking lots of great fruit. It has been a great summer!

Carter Elis was born June 30th, at 37 weeks weighing 8.5lbs and 21 inches long. We were able to stop on the way back from the beach to meet him. He is precious - We love you Carter! Sandestin

We were able to spend a wonderful week at the Sandestin Beach resort with CC, Popa C and Uncles Ryan, Brett and Patrick. Brian Connor and I first stopped on the way down in Huntsville to See my cousin Natalie and Dad's new Connor's -Connor loved the new restuarant and sleeping in a hotel for the night.The rest of the week was great weather, great meals out and cooked in - especially the night the kids cooked for Cc & Popa C! We enjoyed fireworks on the 4th at Baytowne Wharf, a great dinner in Seaside one night, celebrated my birthday, and had a great time on the beach and pool. Connor is enjoying the water so much, he gets so excited as soon as he hears the waves and loves the pool. Thank you CC and Popa C for a great trip!

On June 28 Brian's younger brother Darren married Megan Amburn. The wedding was beautiful, of course the bride stunning in a strapless, sweetheart lace gown, the flowers, cake (compliments of Irene -Darren and Brian's grandmother)the reception - everything went wonderfully and we are so glad to welcome Megan into our family. Unfortunately I did not get any good pictures at the reception, or during the wedding because Brian and I where both in it - but here are a few from Gettysvue the night before at the rehearsal dinner and before going down the aisle.

Brian was actually out of town for his first father's day at the International Rotary Convention in LA with our good friend Jonathon Johnson -I have included a few pics from their trip - so we celebrated fathers day a little late, but celebrated nonetheless with a great afternoon at the pool and a relaxing night of grilling out steaks. Connor and I were able to celebrate with Popa C on father's day and we all were able to celebrate with Brian's family before he left for LA. Happy First Father's Day Dad -we love you!

The Greenbriar

Last weekend Brian and I took our first trip away from Connor and went to the Greenbriar in West Virginia. We had a great time- it is a beautiful resort with wonderful rooms, fantastic food and tons to do. Brian enjoyed golf one morning while I took a cooking class, we spent the afternoon playing tennis and enjoying the beautiful infinity pool -those are so cool - and even enjoyed bowling! The Greenbriar is also home to Project Greek isle -for thirty years housed a secret bunker intended for congress to escape too in the event of a nuclear threat - it is no longer actively used and so we were able to tour it - crazy that for 30 years people vacationed on top of a secret government bunker and never knew it! We had a great time, and survived the first trip away from little man -who enjoyed a weekend of being spoiled at CC and Popa C's

Wild Dunes

We just recently were able to take a family vacation with Brian's family - Nonee, Grandad, Uncle Darren and Aunt Megan (who we are excited to mention are on wedding countdown -only 4 weeks to go!) We stayed at the Wild Dunes resort just outside of Charleston South Carolina. We had wonderful weather and enjoyed spending a few afternoons in the great downtown of Charleston. Connor loved the trip- the first day the waves scared him but by the end of the trip he loved playing with Dad in the waves. Splashing is a newfound talent and makes for great pool fun! We had a great time-thank you Nonee & Grandad!

I was able to celebrate my first mothers day this past weekend. Saturday I was able to celebrate with my mother, grandmother, dad and all the boys who came in town. We had a wonderful dinner at Regas -despite my doubts of bringing a 5 1/2 month old to Regas he did very well, and it meant so much to try and make my first mothers day special. Brian and Connor also treated me on Sunday to roses and Starbucks in the morning and a trip to Fresh Market for a great dinner - Thank you for my special weekend and Happy Mothers Day to all you well deserved

5 Months

We have had a busy few weeks enjoying the onset of Spring. Brian and I were able to have a Kid free day and took a trip to the Keeneland horse races in Lexington -it was a blast but unfortunately in organizing Connor's day at CC's I forgot to pack our camera! We also have helped celebrate my cousin Lauren's graduation from UT, Mamaw Welch's 85th birthday and Uncle Darren's 25th Birthday. Most of all Connor is growing like crazy. We have become more successful with trying new foods and have even come to accept green beans, He is now able to roll both directions and therefore is now able to cross the living room in a matter of seconds. He is laughing out loud, has found his feet -and manages to get them in his mouth somehow, is starting to teeth and is so much fun!

We have recently started to venture past rice cereal in the food department. Green beans were are first experiment, as you can see they are not his favorite! We will keep trying though! We also visited Brian today at his Rotary Club -he only has few more meetings as President and we had to come by before he stepped down. Connor was very good, a little too lively to enjoy the speaker but we did enjoy lunch! I also included a cute picture from his Baptism Brunch -Daddy always gets him to laugh out loud.

This past Sunday Connor was baptized at our church Cedar Springs
Presbyterian. He did great! A little in shock to have water poured on his head -then Pastor Wood lifted him up to show the whole congregation -he was precious!!We were blessed to have so many family members and friends present. It was a beautiful day and we had everyone to our house for brunch following the service. The kids enjoyed an activity table and hot chocolate bar and the adults enjoyed mimosas and a yummy brunch buffet. Thank you to everyone that helped make this day so special!

We had a busy but fun Easter weekend. Connor attended 2 Easter Egg Hunt's on Saturday-one that I and my good friend Missy organize for our neighborhood and one at Cherokee. We were able to spend the evening before Easter with my family and spending quality time with Uncles Ryan, Brett and Patrick (Ryan and Brett even changed their first diaper!) Easter Morning Brian and I made a valid attempt at enjoying the morning service -Connor was not so impressed. Afterwards we had a great brunch with the Brian's family. A trip to Atlanta

Connor and I ventured to the big Atlanta this week -- yes by ourselves. I Do not recommend it. My child, as perfect as he is, is not a creature of change. He cried the WHOLE way there amist the horrific downpour of rain, cried for 2 hours before falling alseep (never does that)and cried most of the way home. Needless to say I was exhausted. Our trip, tiring as it was - was completely worth meeting my dear friend Jenny's new angel. Griffin Thomas Moore was born 2/13 and it absolutely precious!! and doesn't Jenny look fab already! Connor and I went straight for Jenny's house then ventured to the Rileys for a fun evening. Madison LOVES baby Connor and is just prepping to be a great big sis, she could not get enough of loving on him and wanted him to sit next to her the whole time. Connor and I even got to see my Aunt Tootie for a visit on the way out -thanks for the break! Aside for the exhaustion of single parenthood for 2 days -I loved seeing my Georgia Family

We had a great weekend -On Friday we joined some of my good friends from high school -Sallie and Tom Namey, Mary and Richie Lemay and Alyce Sindall in town from Atlanta for a crazy dinner with Connor, Jane LeMay and Kate Namey, we did get a cute picture of the kids on the couch. Saturday I got to have a "Me" day and Brian and Connor had a fun daddy/son day with their matching Tennessee Stud T shirts. Connor and I had a great day enjoying our 70 degree weather! We had lunch with my good friend Meghan Morgan and ventured to the Mowery household for a playdate. Dad's Move

March has just begun and is already busy! After a lot of thought and prayer, Brian and his team have recently moved their business to Morgan Stanley. While he believes this will assists his clients and himself in the future the move has required a lot of work. As you can see Connor is obviously being as supportive as possible and very proud of his Daddy! I also finally got a picture of Connor sucking his thumb - I know I shouldn't encourage it but it's SOOOO precious!!

Staying Busy

Connor is now almost 11 weeks old, is sleeping through the night, is "talking" all the time and rolled over for the first time yesturday! He has been staying busy this month with birthday parties - yes at 2 months old he has 4 this month! Happy Birthday to Emma & Jackson McDowell, Cousin Patton Watkins, Madison Riley and Ford Wagner! As for the rest of us, I recently quit my job to stay home with Connor at least until the Fall, I have started back to Junior League and am beginning to play tennis. Brian is very busy at work, Rotary President, Nucleus, and being a daddy and Bailey is adjusting to life with Connor and celebrating his third birthday this month! Thanks to wonderful grandparents we have been able to enjoy some adult time - below are some pictures at dinner before 9 O'clock Cotillion.

Connor is already 2 months old and growing fast! He had his 2 month check up today (including shots -ouch!) and he is 10 pounds and 22 inches! He is sleeping through the night and eating well. January has been full of milestones -losing his umbilical cord, much more alert and focusing on toys, smiling and recognizing faces and voices and begining to hold his head up by himself!

We are so happy to announce the birth of our son Connor. He was born at 7:00pm, Nov. 29th, weighing in at 8.1 pounds and 20 inches long. He has a full head of black hair, just like is mom. Mandy is doing great. We want to thank you all for your prayers, they were answered.
